The Circus Spontifex had managed to escape from Tarraco and thanks to the Abrafaxe, elephant Avicula was still part of the Circus. An old Roman road, the Via Herculea, led the troupe directly to the port city of Valentia. Actually, nothing and no one should be able to stop the crossing to Rome now, because Titus' pursuer Occius was stuck in Tarraco. On the way, however, Califax made a fateful acquaintance.
