The Munich Comic Festival is going to be abrafantastic!
The preparations of our editorial staff are up to speed and we truly cannot wait to show you the fruits of our labour at the end of this month, but here are some of our agenda highlights exclusively for you in advance:

• Be present when Lona Rietschel will be honoured with the PENG!-lifetime achievement award on May 30th at the Amerikahaus Munich! The gala will begin at 9.15 p.m.. Naturally, Lona isn't going to miss this opportunity and will attend the award show herself and receive her award in person.

• At the Münchener Künstlerhaus there is going to be an Abrafaxe-exhibition fron May 30th to June 2nd!
  There we will show a couple of Lona Rietschel's original pieces. Among other things there will be original pages of her first to her last MOSAIK-issue.

• Furthermore there will be a panel discussion with Lona Rietschel and Klaus D. Schleiter at the Künstlerhaus on Saturday, June 1st, starting at 1 p.m.. You really shouldn't miss this one!

• As a small goodie there will be a detailed 3-page interview with Lona Rietschel in the June-issue of our ZACK-Magazine (#168). (Pssst, the ZACK-mag has the same publishing routine as MOSAIK - it's always published on the last Wednesday of the previous month.)

• Due to Lona's lifetime achievement award the MOSAIK Steinchen für Steinchen publishing house will release a book about Lona Rietschel with a page count of 96 with the following title: Lona Rietschel – Bilder meines Lebens.

Describtion:

Lona Rietschel (*1933) wurde mit ihrem schwungvollen und zugleich liebenswerten Strich zur stilprägenden Zeichnerin für die Comiczeitschrift MOSAIK. Weil sie 1975 die neuen Hauptfiguren entwickelte, gilt sie als Mutter der Abrafaxe.
In diesem Buch erzählt Lona Rietschel aus ihrem Künstlerleben, gleichzeitig dokumentieren viele zuvor noch nie veröffentlichte Abbildungen ihr umfangreiches Schaffen. Dazu zählt ein Faksimile-Abdruck des ersten MOSAIK mit den Abrafaxen, bei dem man an genauen Nachdrucken die kleinsten Details der Originalzeichnungen bewundern kann.
