On June 9th 2012 SC Borussia Friedrichsfelde 1920 e.V. sincerely invited every boy and girl born in 1998 or later to the 16th Abrafaxe Children's Chess Tournament.
The tournament was held in the Mildred-Harnack-Oberschule in Berlin-Lichtenberg and all players were divided in five different age-groups.
The games were played as Swiss-system tournaments to guarantee that no one has to leave the tournament early. Every round lasted 15 minutes and to make sure that the group levels were evenly split, children with a playing ability over 1200 had to play in group A.
It goes without saying that everyone of the 275 players got a price, and beyond that the coveted Abrafaxe-Children's Chess Tournament trophies were awarded.
