Ulrich Nitzsche was born in 1963 in Pirna and spent his childhood in Lohmen (Saxon Switzerland). In 1981, he attended summer school at the DEFA studio for animation in Dresden. Following that he was accepted as a student on a course on animation at the HFF Potsdam-Babelsberg. After graduating, he worked at the DEFA in Dresden until 1991. After that, he moved to Dublin, Ireland for two years, where he gained more experience in the field of classical animation at a bigger animation studio. At the end of 1993, he returned to Germany and worked for many different cartoon studios, including Hahn-Film, Cartoon-Film and Trickkompany. In spring 2008, he decided to switch to comics and became an artist for MOSAIK. He started with the character Fennrich von Rabenhorst, whom he took over from his predecessor Matthias Thieme. Since then, he has been responsible for the design and artwork for supporting characters.
